Regarding the Old Brewery:
Some are alive today who remember when "The Old Brewery," just off campus was in regular operation. It went out of business, but about this time the rumor spread that it was to be put again into operation. Rober[t] H. Sayre, at the time President of the Board of Trustees, thought it a bad influence on the student body to have a brewery in full swing just off the campus and the trustees decided to purchase the property, which they did August 11, 1898.
