NCAA snub turned success for Lehigh soccer

In 1978, Lehigh soccer placed 2nd in the East Coast Conference. By not winning the conference, Lehigh did not receive an invitation to the NCAA tournament. However, they were invited to play in the ECAC tournament. The team took advantage of this opportunity and won the tournament by beating Rider.
